We depend heavily on the dedication and generosity of volunteer drivers to help us deliver our essential service. Our team is constantly seeking new drivers who are eager to join our mission, individuals who want to make a positive difference by giving back to the community in a meaningful way.

A category D1 driving licence is required to drive our minibus. This category was given to all drivers who passed a car driving test before 1st January 1997. Drivers aged over 70 must renew their D1, which requires a medical assessment to be carried out.
Drivers have a responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of their passengers. Each day before setting off, the driver performs a safety check of the vehicle, inspecting essential items such as lights, tyres, wipers and seatbelts.
New drivers will be given MiDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) training, provided by Hampshire Transport Management. This involves online theory training and assessment, followed by a practical driving assessment. The training equips you with the essential knowledge and skills to operate a minibus safely. Additionally, you will be familiarised with our specific minibus and accompanied by an experienced driver on your initial trip.
Each month you will be typically scheduled to drive one of the regular scheduled Monday, Wednesday or Friday services, which takes approximately 4 hours in total. We arrange the monthly driver rota to accommodate your availability. Additionally, you have the option to volunteer for private hire trips if you wish.
